Consequences of inadequate information management and recordkeeping systems

Records are crucial tools for tracking historical events and may also be used as evidence in legal proceedings, so it is important to manage them properly. Establishing an effective records management program can save costs associated with storing and managing information when records are no longer needed for business or other purposes, increase compliance with national laws and regulations, avoid having to use office or server space for unnecessary storage of records, and maximise efficiency across the entire organisation.
